About Port de Pollença
Port de Pollença, also known as Puerto Pollensa, is a lovely resort in the north of Mallorca. With its sandy beach, mountain views and relaxed waterfront, it’s a popular place for couples and families alike.
The beach stretches along the bay, with cafés and restaurants nearby if you fancy a drink or something to eat. There are also play areas for children, making it a nice place for a family day out.
One of the best-known parts of the resort is the Pine Walk, a pleasant path beside the sea. It’s a lovely place for a stroll, with the mountains and the bay in the background. You can carry on towards the marina, where there are boats to look at and places to stop for a coffee.
From the port, you can also explore more of the north of the island. Pollença old town is a short journey inland, while the Formentor peninsula is a popular trip for its scenery and views. If you’re travelling by bus, it’s a good idea to check the latest routes and times before setting off.
The Port and Pine Walk
The harbour is a lovely place to wander around, with boats in the marina and cafés and restaurants nearby. It’s a nice spot to sit for a while, have a drink and watch the world go by.
From the harbour, you can stroll along the Pine Walk, a peaceful path beside the water. With pine trees, small beaches and views across the bay, it’s one of the nicest places in the resort for a gentle walk.
Behind the waterfront, you’ll find shops and the main square, so there’s plenty to explore away from the beach too.
Getting Around by Bus
Port de Pollença has local bus stops where you can catch services to other parts of Mallorca. It’s a handy option if you don’t want to hire a car.
You can take a bus to Pollença old town, which is a separate place inland from the port. It’s well worth a visit if you fancy exploring its streets and square.
There are also seasonal bus services towards Formentor. Routes and times can change, so I’d recommend checking the latest information on the TIB website before you travel.
Port de Pollença Market
The market in Port de Pollença takes place every Wednesday in the main square. It’s a nice place to have a wander, with stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, souvenirs and other bits and pieces.
I think it’s worth having a look around if you’re in the area on market day. Afterwards, you can head down to the seafront for a drink or a walk along the Pine Walk.
Final Thoughts
I really like Port de Pollença. It’s easy to get to by bus, and once you’re there, you’ve got a lovely sandy beach, the Pine Walk and plenty of little independent shops, cafés and bars to explore.
The Wednesday market is worth a wander, and there’s plenty of choice around the square when it comes to food, whatever your taste or budget. You can also take a boat trip, visit the lighthouse or explore the area by bike. There are lots of cyclists around here, although I’m not much of a cyclist myself!
For me, one of the nicest things to do is find somewhere along the seafront in the evening, grab a drink and look out over the sea. It’s a lovely place to sit for a while and watch the world go by.
