Life as an Influencer in Mallorca: What to Expect
Challenges and Rewards of Working as an Influencer in Mallorca
From the outside, making videos in Mallorca can look like a lovely way to spend the day: walking around the island, enjoying the sunshine and showing people beautiful places. That is a big part of why I enjoy it, but there is more to it than pointing a camera and pressing record.
With Loving Life Mallorca, I share walks, weather updates, beaches, excursions and other places visitors might enjoy. Before filming, I decide where to go and what could be useful or interesting to show. I think about the route, the weather and what viewers might want to know. Then I take plenty of footage to work with when I get home.
A big part of running Loving Life Mallorca is staying connected with the people who watch. I share updates and photos, read comments and answer questions where I can. Hearing what viewers enjoy also gives me ideas for future walks, places and experiences to cover.
There’s a practical side to running the channel as well. I need to plan what to film, keep track of my videos and social posts, and cover the costs of travel and equipment. If I’m offered a project or invited to feature an activity, I want it to suit Loving Life Mallorca and be something my viewers may find useful.
For me, making videos in Mallorca is enjoyable, but it takes patience and plenty of work behind the scenes. What makes it worthwhile is sharing places I enjoy and staying in touch with the people who follow along.
So what’s it all about, then?
I do most of the filming and editing in my own time. On some excursions, I’ve been invited to take part in return for making and sharing a video. YouTube adverts bring in some income, but it varies and doesn’t reliably cover the time and costs involved. Older videos can continue to attract views, so their earnings can build gradually.
For me, the rewards are getting out to experience places, meeting subscribers and hearing from people who enjoy the channel. Their comments and support remind me why I keep making the videos
Why is it so hard?
Mallorca is beautiful, but making videos here isn’t always easy. I need to plan where to film, travel there and then edit the footage afterwards. The summer heat can make filming outdoors hard work; I find May and June more comfortable for walks and cycling. I also try to keep my videos varied, so viewers can see different places and activities around the island.
So How do I Make Money?
Most of my video income comes from YouTube advertising, alongside occasional paid projects. I also share content on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram and keep this website updated. Each platform helps me reach people in a different way, even though they don’t all bring in the same income. Together, they help people discover the channel and stay connected with Mallorca.
Alongside making videos, I’ve taken on other work, including guiding excursions, seasonal driving and delivering mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and scooters to hotels. I’m grateful to everyone who watches, shares a video or leaves a comment. Your support helps Loving Life Mallorca reach more people.
So why do it then?
I keep making videos because I enjoy being out around Mallorca, filming walks and places, and chatting with holidaymakers I meet. It’s great when someone tells me a video has helped them discover somewhere or given them an idea for their holiday. I also enjoy sharing photos and weather updates on Facebook and trying excursions I can show to viewers.
So what’s next then?
I want to keep growing Loving Life Mallorca by sharing more places, walks, excursions and experiences around the island. As the channel grows, I hope to explore more hotels and activities and meet more people along the way. I’d also like to work with Mallorca businesses when they’re a good fit for my viewers. In time, I hope to find a sponsor who shares that approach and can support the channel’s future.
